HOW WE DEVELOPED A WEBSITE WITH INTEGRATED E-COMMERCE FOR A HIGH-END LUXURY FASHION BRAND?
The Dina Udupa project comprised a website development job for us. The client had worked with a freelance designer for the UX and UI implementation of the website. And our core role was to be able to manifest the design flawlessly and accurately as envisioned by them. What excited us most about this project was that the website was going to constitute an e-commerce store. We were craving to go all out to transforms the design into an exceptionally user-centric website!

Dina Udupa is an online luxury clothing and accessories brand. The showrunner for this high-end fashion brand is Dina herself. She operates from the UK. She had hired us to develop her online store, where interested buyers could check out her collections and subsequently buy products. Needless to say that she had a keen eye for the aesthetics of the website and was very particular about a visually appealing website. The website was a digital representation of her personal taste, and her taste was nothing short of exquisite. We knew that we had to go all out for our creative and talented client!
Design and development are two concepts that beat to the same rhythm. It becomes way easier to actualize a product when the both in-house designers and developers are involved. Everything, from communicating, changes, creative decisions become a little challenging when the designer and developer are not a part of the same team. And also, we were uncompromising when it came to an accurate design being translated into the website.
So, first time collaborating with remote designer was our primary challenge.
The Dina Udupa brand had an ardent following in the UK and while developing we had to work with a very stringent set of brand guidelines.
At the time when we were developing the website UK was a part of the European Union which meant that the website had to be GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) compliant. These regulations are set in place to protect EU citizens from privacy breaches and to provide them with information and transparency about how their data is used. To make a website compliant we had to add cookie notification prompts, integrate user agreement fields with contact forms, create a concise policy, and add terms of service. We were extremely judicious around this task because non-compliance could lead to hefty fine for our client. And that was not going to happen. Not in our watch!
The client wanted appropriate and distinct shipping integration based on the location the order had to be delivered. For instance, the shipping was free for orders from anywhere in the UK, but we had to implement proper shipping rules and apply optimal charges for orders received from any other place.
To be able to build a secure website is always on our task list. But when developing an online store, the task of building an uncompromising level of security becomes even more crucial.
The website was going to include an online store and so we had to integrate E-Commerce plugins into it. But to reduce client’s dependency on us, we wanted to carry out the integration in a way such that after the initial set up, the online store could be managed by the client without hassle. We wanted her to be able to take on minor edits and changes to the website without assistance.
This was an online fashion store and the image was the first step to swaying a prospect into purchase. So we had to be extremely deliberate with the images that went on the website. Along with the clarity of images we put microscopic attention on the product description section. It was another game changer in a visitor’s journey.
Our initial interaction with the client made it crystal clear that she was a complete fashion plate and was brimming with ideas relating to the subject. We decided to channel her talent to augment what the website offered. How? By incorporating a blogging section. Through this step we hoped to attract more visitors, diversify the website’s offering, and provide our client a space to express herself.
Our client was coordinating with us from the UK. And we knew that post the development of this website, she wouldn't have easy access to our team. So our goal was to develop the website on a platform that would diminish her website’s maintenance-related dependency on us. We wanted to ensure that she could thrive and run her online store without any glitches.
Our designing and product engineering team was tasked with redesigning and developing the entire digital model for the Blockchain Magazine.

Aesthetics play a pivotal role when running an online luxury clothing brand. I was apprehensive initially as to how I will correspond with a team in India all the way from UK.
